How Does it Work?

Step 1

  • It's really very simple. Every user keeps a list of items they are looking for and another list of items they want to swap. The items on your Offered List are then added to the public Item Categories for other users to view. The first step towards swapping is to add items to your Offered and Wanted lists. Every item you add will have a hit-counter, so that you can see how often it has been looked at.

Step 2

  • The next step is to look through the items lists yourself for anything that might catch your eye. Then just add the item(s) to your Swap Cart, check what kind of items the other user is interested in and add your own swap item(s) to the same swap cart. When you have completed the offer, send it off to the other user and wait for a response. Alternatively, you can also just wait for the other users to become interested in one of your items and wait for an offer to arrive in your inbox.

Step 3

  • Once the offer is sent the other user will be able to either accept or reject your offer, or send back a suggestion of different items to swap for. If the swap is Accepted all that's left to do is to ship off the agreed item(s) and sit back and wait for the other user's item(s) to arrive. The user may instead choose to suggest an alternative combination of items. If this happens, the swap then enters into the negotiation phase in which users take turns suggesting new combinations of things to swap for until both users accept the swap or decide to reject it.

When a swap is complete

  • If a swap is accepted you can use the post-swap system to inform the other user about packages you have sent and when you expect them to arrive. You can also check off packages as they are received to let the other user know that the swap has arrived, and when you are satisfied with the completed swap you can indicate as such and rate the other user. Remember that Rating is important, as it gives both you and other users an idea of how good a swapper someone is.

  • Remember that SwapCorner's only function is to provide you with swapping contacts. We do not take any responsibility for the swap itself and are in no way responsible for swaps that may have gone wrong. Using the Rating is intended to serve as a very good indication of how reliable another user is, but there are of course no guarantees.

  • Happy swapping to all! For a more detailed description of how the swap system works, have a look at the "How To Start Swapping" section.
